Le prime immagini della nuova campagna di Marc Jacobs sono partite dal suo stesso account Instagram, quando lo stilista ha postato le foto delle due cantanti, su sfondo rosso, annunciando le nuove protagonisti delle pubblicità della nuova stagione.

Ever since our first Juergen Teller ad in 1998 which featured Kim Gordon on stage wearing my dress, I have always preferred collaborating with the people who inspire me to give new life to the clothes we show on our runway. Over the years we have photographed an incredibly diverse and exceptional group of talented friends and individuals who I greatly admire: Victoria Beckham, Jamie Bochert, Jarvis Cocker, Sofia Coppola, Miley Cyrus, Dakota Fanning, William Eggleston, Jessica Lange, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Stephen Malkmus, Samantha Morton, Kate Moss, Charlotte Rampling, Winona Ryder, Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Sherman, Michael Stipe, and Rufus Wainwright, just to name a few. Beauty, style and talent know no age. It is those individuals whose creativity, unique vision, and voice inspire all of us here to create and express ourselves through our medium: fashion. Photographed by David Sims, this season’s ads feature friends, each of whom evoke a sense of intrigue and inspiration and collectively provoke a true consideration for individuality. Here today I would like to share (not CHER) with you first, the talented, stylish and charming Willow Smith @gweelos Stay tuned over the coming weeks for more…

Chi ci vedreste bene?

I remember exactly how equally excited (and intimidated) I felt when I first met Kim in 1992. I was a huge fan, and she represented all that was intelligent, unconventionally creative and cool…awkward, powerful, the epitome of artistic credibility and a seductive intensity that I'd never known. In 1992 Sonic Youth were working on a video for their song Sugar Kane, from their album Dirty. My friend Nick Egan was directing it and introduced me to Kim and Thurston. The intimidation I felt disappeared after they'd invited me to their place to talk about the video. Filmed at the Perry Ellis showroom, centered on my grunge collection, while Sonic Youth played, Kims friend Chloe Sevigny starred along with a cast of friends, models and fashion editors (You Tube it)! From that point on, my respect, admiration and friendship with Kim grew. In our first ever ad, photographed by Juergen Teller in 1998 Kim appeared wearing a dress of mine while performing on stage in London. Kim, Thurston, Coco and Louise appeared in our 2003 campaign. SY performed center stage while models walked around them in our Fall/Winter 2008 show. Several times while on tour in Europe, they stayed with me in my Paris apartment..I was excited and impressed to see Coco's artwork.. I have learned so much about art from Kim. Kim and Coco are photographed here by David Sims. A personal and stunning portrait to end our extraordinary portfolio with. Thank you to all of my endlessly inspiring friends for being part of this campaign. And, to all the amazing talents who've made it happen. I am so truly grateful to you all.

This next photo I am "leaking" is (along with Chers portrait) one of my very favorites from this "album" photographed by David Sims of our Fall/Winter collections. I met Sofia Coppola just after I showed my now "credited" (by some!) GRUNGE collection for Perry Ellis in 1992. Sofia was one of the few who recognized something special and related to what I was doing at that time. She wanted to meet me, and when we did, it was love at first sight for me! Not only was I attracted to how she looked, her sense of style, I was drawn to her manner. Her behavior, her life, her ambitions and creativity… She represented everything I am drawn to- Talent, style, creativity, a unique "vision and voice". She had then and has now an interest in fashion not as an art but rather part of the "art of living". Like good books, good music, beautiful interiors, art. She makes films that are creative and unique in their tone. While they do have a style they are not the "block buster Hollywood" type movies that adhere to a formula or an accepted commercial cast. We became great friends immediately. Over the years she has appeared in the ads we did. The first campaign was for Fall/Winter 2000. The next our first fragrance in 2001 photographed by Juergen Teller. She later would be the subject of a portrait painted by the artist Elizabeth Peyton. Sofia and I went on to collaborating for handbag collections both at our company and for Louis Vuitton (while I was there) and later sat for my final Vuitton campaign photographed by Steven Meisel. She has also directed our recent television commercial for our fragrance DAISY (equally inspired by my love for her film THE VIRGIN SUICIDES). I write all of this to say, that from that point of my life and to this day, I am so deeply inspired by that time in my life. Meeting Sofia, having met and worked with Steven, the many years I collaborated with Juergen Teller, the work of David Sims and the late Corinne Day. As I write this and look at all the portraits of David's beautiful campaign, it touches me so deeply to see the profound effect this cast has on my life and work. Special thanks to Katie, David, Guido, Diane, Stefan and my team.
