Stanotte all’una e mezza italiana si terrà la 43ª edizione gli Mtv Video Musc Awards. Per la prima volta dal 2017 si tornerà sulla West Coast, precisamente al Peacock Theater di Los Angeles.
Lo show sarà condotto da Snoop Dogg, che alla cerimonia si è esibito diverse volte a partire dall’esordio del 1994. Gran attesa per il ritorno di Madonna che si esibirà come apertura dello show: l’ultimo apparizione sul palco dei VMAs è datata 2003, ovvero durante la celebre performance con il bacio a Britney Spears e Christina Aguilera. Madonna è inoltre l’artista più nominata, con ben 11 candidature per il suo Confessions II.
Segue a 10 Taylor Swift, che ai VMAs presenterà in anteprima il nuovo video di Patent Zero, singolo contenuto della nuova edizione di The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore. Diretto dalla tessa Swift, vede come protagonisti Dakota Johnson e Colin Farrell. Al contempo la musicista riceverà un nuovo premio chiamato MTV VMA Artist Director Honors e pensato per «gli artisti musicali innovativi il cui lavoro dietro la macchina da presa ha ampliato le possibilità del videoclip e contribuito a far progredire l’arte della narrazione visiva».
Le altre esibizioni della serata saranno Lisa delle Blackpink con SaWaDiKa, Gener8ion a Yung Lean con Storm II, Shaboozey con Cowgirl e High Noon (con Gunna), Raye e Sienna Spiro. Uno dei momenti più attesi è l’omaggio a Dolly Parton, appena scomparsa, che verrà celebrata da Kacey Musgraves. Ci sarà anche un tributo di Raye, Sombr e Teddy Swims in onore di George Michael e ai 40 anni di Faith.
Per i residenti negli USA, i VMAs 2026 saranno trasmessi in diretta sulle reti CBS e MTV, e in streaming su Paramount+. Per l’Italia invece bisognerà attendere il giorno successo: lo show verrà trasmesso lunedì 28 settembre a partire dalle 21su MTV Italia (canali Sky 131 e Sky Glass 122, oltre al live streaming su NOW) e alle 22:45 su Comedy Central (canale 129 di Sky e 121 di Sky Glass, sempre in streaming su NOW), per poi entrare a far parte del catalogo di Paramount+.
Tra i presentatori troveremo invece Charli XCX (che vanta 4 nomination), Troye Sivan, Teyana Taylor, Tyla, Alex Warren, Belmont Cameli, Ciara Miller, David Corenswet, Ella Bright, Isabel May, Jeff Probst e Rachel Dratch.
A decidere i vincitori è stato il pubblico con il voto online (chiuso ufficialmente due giorni fa).
