Era candidata in undici categoria, ha vinto nove premi. Nessuno prima di lei aveva fatto altrettanto in una sola notte dei VMAs. Ora nella sua carriera ha vinto 23 Video Music Awards, meglio di Madonna (20), seconda solo a Beyoncé (26).
È stata anche la serata dei Måneskin, che oltre ad essersi esibiti suonando l’ultimo singolo Honey (Are U Coming?), hanno vinto col video di The Loneliest nella categoria Best Rock, battendo band come Metallica, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, For Fighters, Linkin Park.
