I Pink Floyd pubblicheranno il 12 dicembre una nuova edizione di Wish You Were Here, l’album che proprio oggi compie 50 anni.
Verrà pubblicato in vari formati (triplo LP, doppio CD, Blu-ray, digitale e cofanetto deluxe) e conterrà pezzi in versione alternativa, demo inediti, un concerto del 1975.
L’edizione che si ascolterà in streaming comprenderà l’album originale in un nuovo mix in Dolby Atmos realizzato da James Guthrie e 25 brani bonus composti da nove rarità in studio e 16 pezzi dal vivo registrati dal bootlegger Mike Millard al concerto del 26 aprile 1975 alla Los Angeles Sports Arena. L’audio dal vivo è stato restaurato e rimasterizzato da Steven Wilson.
Tra le rarità incise in studio c’è The Machine Song (Demo #2, Revisited), uscita oggi, demo di Welcome to the Machine. Tra le altre c’è un primo demo casalingo della stessa canzone inciso da Roger Waters per presentarlo al gruppo, un mix strumentale di Wish You Were Here che enfatizza la pedal steel di David Gilmour e una versione di Shine On You Crazy Diamond che unisce tutte le sezioni del pezzo in un mix di James Guthrie.
Il Blu-ray conterrà tre dei filmati proiettati nei concerti del tour e un cortometraggio di Storm Thorgerson.
